Compilation of ballets from the Cerdanya and the Rosselló Harmonized by Joan Camps Arnau
The three ballets included in this section belong to the collection of ballets harmonized by Joan Camps Arnau and collected by the neighbor of La Molina, Pau Cot Verdaguer, according to the editor himself.
Los aucellets de Cerdanya (Rossellonenca and variant): They consist of two different melodies, written in 6/8 and with structure A, A', B. The variant appears in the third volume of Dansa popular a les comarques gironines about the Alt Empordà and the Cerdanya (1980 , 91) as one of the two versions of the Ball dels Ocellets de Das. According to this source it was a fast Carnival dance starring only boys, symbolizing shepherds with vegetable wigs hunting the wolf (1980, 90).
Ball dels casats i pabordeses (Alp): With ternary meter, 3/8, and an A, B, A structure, the melodies are mainly formed by joint degrees and flourishes. This dance, of religious origin, was danced by the pabordes on the Festa Major. Today it continues to be part of the activities of Alp's Festa Major.
